The print industry is transforming at an unprecedented pace!  In the past, industry changes were focused on equipment technology and productivity enhancements. Today, the issues that many owners and CEO's face involve: which customers to do business with, how they target their customers, their differentiation strategy, and their ability to communicate and execute the strategy throughout their organization.
Exell Technologies is hosting its “Automate to Profit – 2009” conference/workshop concurrently with Print Expo 2009, 20 October to 23 October at Nasrec in Johannesburg, providing an active platform into the latest automation trends and technologies.

Not only will Exell Technologies be hosting, with DMP-Int., Enfocus and a few other exciting solution providers, “Automate to profit – 2009” conference/workshops but it will also add two new First for South Africa editions.
The first is the Enfocus PitStop training day on the 22nd of October 2009 at the PrintExpo exhibition but also, and we very excited about this, the first “Automation Pavilion” stand at an exhibition in South Africa.

At the “Automate Pavilion” visitors will experience a true automated digital workflow, using various vendor solutions, demonstrating a real life workflow concept from design, preflighting, auto correction possibilities through to output to a digital press. This will also include a world class web2print solution with full digital asset management capabilities. Visitors will also be able to experience working JDF connections and a world class MIS in action.
This will truly be a stand not to avoid and a must visit by creators, publishers and printers.

Conference and workshop Program

Day 1: The why’s and how’s

It’s rare that a company can create a workflow from scratch. Typically you have equipment, people and procedures already in place and you need to figure out what and how to improve them.

  • Are you concerned about the ability of legacy systems to connect with productions tools in manufacturing?
  • Are you looking for ways to maximize effectiveness across the entire enterprise, whether 20 employees or 200?
  • Do you want to grow the business with efficiencies that marry knowledge of customers and jobs with known production capabilities of the plant?
  • Are you introducing new service offerings like web-to-print?

In today’s modern manufacturing operation the use of automation is increasingly important. And, introduced within each operation are many processes to increase productivity and reduce the amount of touch points that impact upon both costs and possible errors.
There are large gains to be made by passing information through the entire process and being able to accurately capture job information for billing, estimation and process improvement.
Beginning with a background in the underlying technologies, this session will present case studies and solutions for implementation optimization that will enable you to overcome commonly identified hurdles.  In this session you will benefit from the “been there” and “done that” information and experiences from real life production success case studies.

Day 2: The practical of how and what’s available

The facts are simple—leading companies focus as much on operations and productivity as they do on marketing and sales.
The question becomes how do you focus on operations and productivity?
In today’s modern manufacturing operation the use of automation is increasingly important. during this session you will hear from groundbreaking solution providers that will help companies deliver real value to their business and their customers.

In these challenging times the implementation of automation technologies can make a major difference in the success of any graphic communications company. These groundbreaking programs help companies deliver real value to their business and their customers.
“On-demand” and “digital printing” are terms that cover a host of technologies and approaches. Are you considering the purchase of on-demand or digital printing equipment?  Do you own equipment and are searching for new opportunities or the elusive of profits?  Then this seminar is for you!

Day 3: Training and Practical

For the first time in South Africa, Enfocus Belgium based Bert van Rooijen, product specialist will bring a full intermediate to advanced training day on PitStop Professional and PitStop Server.

Enfocus PitStop is used by mostly all publishing and printing organisations to ensure the job is print ready, from PreFlight to auto correction and distribution Enfocus is the de-facto name in prepress workflows.

Switch introduction. At the end of the training session Enfocus with various 3rd party workflow vendors will show case how PowerSwitch and these 3rd party applications will reduce errors and increase workflow profitability. Join your staff attending the training session for this practical demonstration. See how legacy and new automation solutions interact with Enfocus Switch workflow. Not open for companies with no staff members during the training sessions.
